Champions League

There are various cup tournaments that go on that are quite exciting, but the biggest is the Champions League. It is probably the most important tournament outside the world cup. This is why July to May is usually the hottest in Europe.

It is a knockout competition that comprises of all the best teams from the best leagues in Europe. There are two parts to the competition. The qualification stages which is a bit too complex, and the main competition itself. Since there are 76 teams in the league, 16 of those teams pre-qualify for the group stage, and 32 are to enter the competition proper. So the other 60 are competing for the remaining 16 spots in the qualifying games. Uefa is the governing body of the champions league.
